This jubilee is especially significant for Pécs, as the world-renowned artist was born here.
The Visual Arts Centre presents a selection of contemporary visual artworks at the m21 Gallery in the Zsolnay Cultural Quarter. Through reinterpretations of Op Art, these works reflect on Vasarely’s artistic legacy and the visual culture of the 21st century. Alongside contemporary pieces, the exhibition also features rarely seen and lesser-known works by Victor Vasarely.
The exhibition also serves as a preparatory event for the 4th Pécs Fine Arts Biennale, whose central theme will be “the city.” In September 2026, the program will be accompanied by a symposium focusing on Vasarely’s work The Colorful City.
